नाष्टमो न नवमो दशमो नाप्युच्यते
No eighth, no ninth, nor tenth is spoken of.
स सर्वस्मै वि पश्यति यच्च प्राणति यच्च न
He looks out over everything, both what breathes and what does not.
तमिदं निगतं सहः स एष एक एकवृदेक एव
This power is contained within him; he is one, the sole bearer, the only one.
सर्वे अस्मिन् देवा एकवृतो भवन्ति
All the gods become united in him, the sole bearer.
ब्रह्म च तपश्च कीर्तिश्च यशश्चाम्भश्च नभश्च ब्राह्मणवर्चसं चान्नं चान्नाद्यं च
Brahman, ascetic heat, fame, glory, waters, sky, Brahmanic radiance, food, and that which is eaten.
भूतं च भव्यं च श्रद्धा च रुचिश्च स्वर्गश्च स्वधा च
What has been, what will be, faith, delight, heaven, offering.
य एतं देवमेकवृतं वेद
Whoever knows this god, the sole bearer,
स एव मृत्युः सोऽमृतं सोऽभ्वं स रक्षः
He is death, he is immortality, he is the abyss, he is the demon.
स रुद्रो वसुवनिर्वसुदेये नमोवाके वषट्कारोऽनु संहितः
That Rudra is the bestower of wealth, the lord of the earth; with words of reverence and the exclamation vaṣaṭ, he is invoked in the recitation.
तस्येमे सर्वे यातव उप प्रशिषमासते
All these beings approach him, seeking his guidance.
तस्यामू सर्वा नक्षत्रा वशे चन्द्रमसा सह
All the stars, together with the moon, are under his control.
13.7(१३.४) स वा अह्नोऽजायत तस्मादहरजायत
He was born from the day; from him, the day was born.
स वै रात्र्या अजायत तस्माद्रात्रिरजायत
He was indeed born from the night; from him, the night was born.
स वा अन्तरिक्षादजायत तस्मादन्तरिक्षमजायत
He was born from the midspace; from him, the midspace was born.
स वै वायोरजायत तस्माद्वायुरजायत
He was born from the wind; from him, the wind was born.
स वै दिवोऽजायत तस्माद्द्यौरधि अजायत
He was born from the sky; from him, the sky above was born.
स वै दिग्भ्योऽजायत तस्माद्दिशोऽजायन्त
He was born from the directions; from him, the directions were born.
स वै भूमेरजायत तस्माद्भूमिरजायत
He was born from the earth; from him, the earth was born.
स वा अग्नेरजायत तस्मादग्निरजायत
He was born from fire; from him, fire was born.
स वा अद्भ्योऽजायत तस्मादापोऽजायन्त
He was born from the waters; from him, the waters were born.
स वा ऋग्भ्योऽजायत तस्मादृचोऽजायन्त
He was born from the Ṛg verses; from him, the Ṛg verses were born.
स वै यज्ञादजायत तस्माद्यज्ञोऽजायत
He was born from the sacrifice; from him, the sacrifice was born.
स यज्ञस्तस्य यज्ञः स यज्ञस्य शिरस्कृतम्
He is the sacrifice; that sacrifice is his, and it is made the head of the sacrifice.
स स्तनयति स वि द्योतते स उ अश्मानमस्यति
He thunders, he flashes, he hurls the stone.
पापाय वा भद्राय वा पुरुषायासुराय वा
Whether for evil or for good, for a man or for a demon—
यद्वा कृणोष्योषधीर्यद्वा वर्षसि भद्रया यद्वा जन्यमवीवृधः
Whatever you do to the plants, or whatever you rain down for good, or whatever offspring you have increased—
तावांस्ते मघवन् महिमोपो ते तन्वः शतम्
O Maghavan, your greatness is as vast as a hundred of your forms.
उपो ते बध्वे बद्धानि यदि वासि न्यर्बुदम्
Bound are your bonds, whether you are tied with a hundred thousand.
13.८(१३.४) भूयान् इन्द्रो नमुराद्भूयान् इन्द्रासि मृत्युभ्यः
May you, Indra, be greater than the hostile; may you, Indra, be greater than death.
भूयान् अरात्याः शच्याः पतिस्त्वमिन्द्रासि विभूः प्रभूरिति त्वोपास्महे वयम्
May you be greater than enmity, lord of strength; you are Indra, all-pervading, all-powerful—thus we worship you.
