Purified by filters, they flow; from the cloud they go to heaven and to the worlds of earth. Those living, life-giving, established ones—poured into the vessel—I kindle the fire all around.
They come from heaven, they join the earth; they join the atmosphere above the earth. Being pure, they shine; may they lead us to the heavenly world.
They are powerful, measured, bright, pure, and immortal. Those waters, instructed by the two masters of the household, cook the food, well-guided.
Counted drops join the earth, measured by breath and by plants; uncounted, poured out, golden, they pervade all, pure in their purity.
They rise up, they shine forth, heated, they cast up foam and many drops. Like a bride seeing her husband, with these grains you become united.
Raise up those who are sitting, let them touch themselves with water. In these vessels is water; these measured grains, these directions.
Hand over the axe, hurry, let us cut without harming the plants whose kingdom Soma has encircled; let other shoots be for us.
Spread new sacred grass for the offering, lovely to the heart and pleasing to the eye. On it, may the gods with the goddesses enter, may they eat this, seated with the seasons.
O Lord of the Forest, sit on the spread grass, measured by Agni offerings, with the deities. Like Tvashtar, a well-made form, come here; let us see you around the vessel.
The guardians of the treasure, in sixty arrows, should eat the well-cooked food. Upon him, both living fathers and sons, may they lead him who is going to the heavenly world of Agni.
Support, hold firm in the earth's foundation; let not the gods shake you from your place. You, whom the living couple with living sons lead out from the fire's enclosure.
Having conquered all the worlds, having surpassed all desires, you have come together. Go forth, O ladle, and the spoon, in one vessel lift him up.
Spread out the vessel before us, make it wide in front, anoint it with ghee; let this vessel be filled. Like a cow with her calf, let the gods call forth the young one to the breast.
Let the maker of the bed spread out this wide world, let the heavenly realm expand without equal; upon it may the buffalo, the great-winged one, rest. O gods, offer him to the deities.
Whatever the wife cooks, or the husband, or another for you, let both of you release it together, let it be so; accomplishing together, may you both attain the one world.
All those who belong to this earth, our sons and those who have arisen around us—call them all to the vessel; knowing the navel, let the children come together.
The streams of wealth, rich with honey, mixed with ghee, the navels of immortality—may the heavenly realm enclose them all, the guardians of the treasure, in sixty arrows.
Let the guardians of the treasure cover this deposit, and let those others who are powerless be around it. Placed by us, set down, the heavenly realm has ascended with three bundles, reaching three heavens.
Let Agni burn up the demon, as is fitting; let the flesh-eater, the ghoul, not approach here. We drive him away, we shut him out from us; O Adityas, let the Angirases join with him.
To the Adityas and the Angirases I present this honeyed, ghee-mixed offering. With pure hands, the Brahmin, unhurt, has enjoyed this heavenly, well-made portion.
I have attained this highest bundle, from that world the supreme one has reached. Pour out the clarified butter, anoint with ghee; this is the share of the Angirases among us.
For truth and for ascetic heat, to the deities, I dedicate this treasure, this good deposit. Let it not be lost in gambling, nor in conflict; let it not be cast away by us at any time.
I cook, I give, the deed is mine; the wife is born for compassion. The youthful world is born, the son; may you both support him, advancing in age.
There is no sin here, no lack; nothing comes here measured with friends. The vessel placed is not deficient; the cooked does not return again to the cook.
Let us make the beloved for the beloved; let those who hate depart as they wish. The cow, free from rope, with her calf, may she drive away death from this manly one.
The fires know one another, he who attends the plants and he who attends the rivers. As many gods as shine in the sky, gold, light, have become cooked.
This has become the skin of men, all the animals, and others, unburnt. With kingship, you should clothe yourself; let this garment be the face of joy.
Whatever you say in dice, whatever in conflict, or whatever falsehood you utter for gain—dwelling together on the same thread, in that let all impurity be settled.
Endure the rain, go even into the water; you cause the gods' skin, the smoke, to rise. Spreading everywhere, ghee-backed, you will be; having a good seat, go to this world.
Heaven has made the body manifold, as is known, with various colors. Purifying the black, making it bright again, whatever is red, that I offer to Agni.
