तेषां सर्वेषामीशाना उत्तिष्ठत सं नह्यध्वम् । मित्रा देवजना यूयमिमं संग्रामं संजित्य यथालोकं वि तिष्ठध्वम्
All you lords among them, rise up, join together; O friendly divine beings, having conquered this battle, stand firm according to your station.
11.10(११.१२) उत्तिष्ठत सं नह्यध्वमुदाराः केतुभिः सह । सर्पा इतरजना रक्षांस्यमित्रान् अनु धावत
Rise up, join together, O mighty ones, with your standards; serpents, other beings, demons—pursue the enemies.
ईशां वो वेद राज्यं त्रिषन्धे अरुणैः केतुभिः सह । ये अन्तरिक्षे ये दिवि पृथिव्यां ये च मानवाः । त्रिषन्धेस्ते चेतसि दुर्णामान उपासताम्
He knows your sovereignty, your rule, O Triṣandhi, with the red banners at dawn; those who are in the midspace, those in heaven, those on earth, and those among men—may all these, with Triṣandhi in their hearts, attend to us, removing evil speech.
अयोमुखाः सूचीमुखा अथो विकङ्कतीमुखाः । क्रव्यादो वातरंहस आ सजन्त्वमित्रान् वज्रेण त्रिषन्धिना
With iron-faced, needle-faced, and even with hooked-faced weapons, let the flesh-eaters, swift as the wind, bind the enemies with the thunderbolt of Triṣandhi.
अन्तर्धेहि जातवेद आदित्य कुणपं बहु । त्रिषन्धेरियं सेना सुहितास्तु मे वशे
Disappear, O Jātavedas, O Sun, the corpse and the multitude; may this army of Triṣandhi be well-disposed and under my control.
उत्तिष्ठ त्वं देवजनार्बुदे सेनया सह । अयं बलिर्व आहुतस्त्रिषन्धेराहुतिः प्रिया
Rise up, you, with the multitude of the divine people, with the army; this offering is made for you, the beloved oblation of Triṣandhi.
शितिपदी सं द्यतु शरव्येयं चतुष्पदी । कृत्येऽमित्रेभ्यो भव त्रिषन्धेः सह सेनया
Let the four-footed and the sharp-toothed ones come together, and those struck by arrows; in the matter of sorcery against enemies, be with Triṣandhi and his army.
धूमाक्षी सं पततु कृधुकर्णी च क्रोशतु । त्रिषन्धेः सेनया जिते अरुणाः सन्तु केतवः
Let the smoky-eyed one fly together, and the sharp-eared one cry out; with the army of Triṣandhi victorious, let the red banners be raised.
अवायन्तां पक्षिणो ये वयांस्यन्तरिक्षे दिवि ये चरन्ति । श्वापदो मक्षिकाः सं रभन्तामामादो गृध्राः कुणपे रदन्ताम्
Let the birds, those flying creatures who move in the midspace and in heaven, descend; let the wild beasts and flies gather together, let the vultures devour the corpse.
यामिन्द्रेण संधां समधत्था ब्रह्मणा च बृहस्पते । तयाहमिन्द्रसंधया सर्वान् देवान् इह हुव इतो जयत मामुतः
With that alliance which you, O Indra, and Brāhmaṇa Bṛhaspati, have established, with that Indra-alliance I call upon all the gods here—may you conquer for me here and beyond.
बृहस्पतिराङ्गिरस ऋषयो ब्रह्मसंशिताः । असुरक्षयणं वधं त्रिषन्धिं दिव्याश्रयन्
Bṛhaspati, the Angirases, the seers, skilled in sacred knowledge, have taken up the thunderbolt of Triṣandhi, the slayer of demons, as a weapon.
{२८} येनासौ गुप्त आदित्य उभाविन्द्रश्च तिष्ठतः । त्रिषन्धिं देवा अभजन्तौजसे च बलाय च
By which that Sun, well-guarded, and Indra both stand firm—Triṣandhi, the gods have apportioned for strength and might.
सर्वांल्लोकान्त्समजयन् देवा आहुत्यानया । बृहस्पतिराङ्गिरसो वज्रं यमसिञ्चतासुरक्षयणं वधम्
With this oblation, the gods conquered all the worlds; Bṛhaspati and the Angirases poured the thunderbolt, the slaying weapon of Triṣandhi, for the destruction of demons.
बृहस्पतिराङ्गिरसो वज्रं यमसिञ्चतासुरक्षयणं वधम् । तेनाहममूं सेनां नि लिम्पामि बृहस्पतेऽमित्रान् हन्म्योजसा
Bṛhaspati and the Angirases poured the thunderbolt, the slaying weapon of Triṣandhi, for the destruction of demons; with that, O Bṛhaspati, I besmear this army, with might I slay the enemies.
सर्वे देवा अत्यायन्ति ये अश्नन्ति वषट्कृतम् । इमां जुषध्वमाहुतिमितो जयत मामुतः
May all the gods come who partake of the vaṣaṭ-uttered offering; be pleased with this oblation, conquer for me here and beyond.
सर्वे देवा अत्यायन्तु त्रिषन्धेराहुतिः प्रिया । संधां महतीं रक्षत ययाग्रे असुरा जिताः
May all the gods come, the beloved oblation of Triṣandhi; protect the great alliance by which the demons were first conquered.
वायुरमित्राणामिष्वग्राण्याञ्चतु । इन्द्र एषां बाहून् प्रति भनक्तु मा शकन् प्रतिधामिषुम् । आदित्य एषामस्त्रं वि नाशयतु चन्द्रमा युतामगतस्य पन्थाम्
Let the wind turn back the arrows of the enemies; let Indra shatter their arms, let them not be able to aim at us; let Āditya destroy their weapons, and the Moon lead them on a path from which there is no return.
यदि प्रेयुर्देवपुरा ब्रह्म वर्माणि चक्रिरे । तनूपानं परिपाणं कृण्वाना यदुपोचिरे सर्वं तदरसं कृधि
If the gods of old went forth, having made prayers their armor, making their bodies a shield and protection, whatever they approached, make all that powerless.
क्रव्यादानुवर्तयन् मृत्युना च पुरोहितम् । त्रिषन्धे प्रेहि सेनया जयामित्रान् प्र पद्यस्व
Following the flesh-eaters and with Death as the priest, go forth, O Triṣandhi, with the army; conquer the enemies and advance.
त्रिषन्धे तमसा त्वममित्रान् परि वारय । पृषदाज्यप्रणुत्तानां मामीषां मोचि कश्चन
O Triṣandhi, with darkness surround the enemies; among those who have not offered clarified butter, let not one of them reach me.
शितिपदी सं पतत्वमित्राणाममूः सिचः । मुह्यन्त्वद्यामूः सेना अमित्राणां न्यर्बुदे
Let the sharp-footed one fall upon the enemies, let her pour out confusion; today, let those armies of the enemies be bewildered in the abyss.
{२९} मूढा अमित्रा न्यर्बुदे जह्येषां वरंवरम् । अनया जहि सेनया
Let the enemies be deluded in the abyss; let their chosen ones be destroyed again and again; with this army, strike them down.
यश्च कवची यश्चाकवचोऽमित्रो यश्चाज्मनि । ज्यापाशैः कवचपाशैरज्मनाभिहतः शयाम्
Whether the enemy is armored or unarmored, or rides in a chariot, let him be struck down by the snares of the armored, by the snares of the chariot, and lie defeated.
ये वर्मिणो येऽवर्माणो अमित्रा ये च वर्मिणः । सर्वांस्तामर्बुदे हतां छ्वानोऽदन्तु भूम्याम्
Those enemies who are armored, those who are unarmored, and those who are partly armored—let all of them, struck down in the abyss, be devoured by dogs upon the earth.
ये रथिनो ये अरथा असादा ये च सादिनः । सर्वान् अदन्तु तान् हतान् गृध्राः श्येनाः पतत्रिणः
Those who ride in chariots, those who do not, those who are mounted, and those who are not—let all those slain be devoured by vultures, hawks, and birds of prey.
सहस्रकुणपा शेतामामित्री सेना समरे वधानाम् । विविद्धा ककजाकृता
Let the hostile army, struck down in battle, lie as a heap of corpses, pierced and torn apart by jackals.
मर्माविधं रोरुवतं सुपर्णैरदन्तु दुश्चितं मृदितं शयानम् । य इमां प्रतीचीमाहुतिममित्रो नो युयुत्सति
Let those who are wounded in their vital parts, who cry out, who are struck down and lie there, be devoured by great birds; whoever among the enemies opposes this westward offering of ours.
यां देवा अनुतिष्ठन्ति यस्या नास्ति विराधनम् । तयेन्द्रो हन्तु वृत्रहा वज्रेण त्रिषन्धिना
That offering which the gods observe, which cannot be resisted—may Indra, the slayer of Vṛtra, strike down with his thunderbolt of triple edge.
12.1 सत्यं बृहदृतमुग्रं दीक्षा तपो ब्रह्म यज्ञः पृथिवीं धारयन्ति । सा नो भूतस्य भव्यस्य पत्न्युरुं लोकं पृथिवी नः कृणोतु
Truth, greatness, order, might, consecration, austerity, sacred knowledge, and sacrifice uphold the earth; may she, the broad earth, our companion in what has been and what will be, make for us a wide world.
असंबाधं मध्यतो मानवानां यस्या उद्वतः प्रवतः समं बहु । नानावीर्या ओषधीर्या बिभर्ति पृथिवी नः प्रथतां राध्यतां नः
Unconfined in her middle for humankind, whose slopes and depressions are even and abundant, who bears plants of many virtues—may the earth spread out for us and grant us riches.
