राजसूयं वाजपेयमग्निष्टोमस्तदध्वरः । अर्काश्वमेधावुच्छिष्टे जीवबर्हिर्मदिन्तमः
Rājasūya, Vājapeya, Agniṣṭoma, and that sacrifice; the Arka and Aśvamedha are in the remainder, the living barhis, most intoxicating.
अग्न्याधेयमथो दीक्षा कामप्रश्छन्दसा सह । उत्सन्ना यज्ञाः सत्राण्युच्छिष्टेऽधि समाहिताः
The establishment of fire, and initiation, together with the desired meters; the lost sacrifices and sessions are gathered in the remainder.
अग्निहोत्रं च श्रद्धा च वषट्कारो व्रतं तपः । दक्षिणेष्टं पूर्तं चोच्छिष्टेऽधि समाहिताः
Agnihotra, faith, the vaṣaṭ-call, vow, austerity; the southern offering and the meritorious deed are gathered in the remainder.
एकरात्रो द्विरात्रः सद्यःक्रीः प्रक्रीरुक्थ्यः । ओतं निहितमुच्छिष्टे यज्ञस्याणूनि विद्यया
The one-night, two-night, immediate, repeated, and ukthya sacrifices; the woven and placed, in the remainder, the atoms of the sacrifice are known.
{१९} चतूरात्रः पञ्चरात्रः षड्रात्रश्चोभयः सह । षोडशी सप्तरात्रश्चोच्छिष्टाज्जज्ञिरे सर्वे ये यज्ञा अमृते हिताः
The four-night, five-night, and six-night, both together; the sixteen and seven-night sacrifices, all are born from the remainder, those sacrifices established in immortality.
प्रतीहारो निधनं विश्वजिच्चाभिजिच्च यः । साह्नातिरात्रावुच्छिष्टे द्वादशाहोऽपि तन् मयि
The pratīhāra, the conclusion, the all-conquering and the victorious; the sāhna and atirātra, the twelve-day, too, are in the remainder, and in me.
सूनृता संनतिः क्षेमः स्वधोर्जामृतं सहः । उच्छिष्टे सर्वे प्रत्यञ्चः कामाः कामेन तातृपुः
Truthfulness, humility, safety, the offering, immortality, strength; in the remainder, all desires turn back, satisfied by desire.
नव भूमीः समुद्रा उच्छिष्टेऽधि श्रिता दिवः । आ सूर्यो भात्युच्छिष्टेऽहोरात्रे अपि तन् मयि
Nine lands and oceans are established in the remainder, in the sky; as the sun shines, in the remainder, day and night, too, are in me.
उपहव्यं विषूवन्तं ये च यज्ञा गुहा हिताः । बिभर्ति भर्ता विश्वस्योच्छिष्टो जनितुः पिता

ऋतं सत्यं तपो राष्ट्रं श्रमो धर्मश्च कर्म च । भूतं भविष्यदुच्छिष्टे वीर्यं लक्ष्मीर्बलं बले
Order, truth, austerity, sovereignty, effort, righteousness, and action; what has been and what will be, the remnant, vigor, fortune, strength in strength.
समृद्धिरोज आकूतिः क्षत्रं राष्ट्रं षडुर्व्यः । संवत्सरोऽध्युच्छिष्ट इडा प्रैषा ग्रहा हविः
Fullness, radiance, intention, authority, dominion, the six seasons; the year, the remnant, Ida, command, the ritual cups, the offering.
चतुर्होतार आप्रियश्चातुर्मास्यानि नीविदः । उच्छिष्टे यज्ञा होत्राः पशुबन्धास्तदिष्टयः
The four priests, the invoker, the four-monthly rites, the announcements; in the remnant, sacrifices, priestly functions, animal bindings, those desired offerings.
अर्धमासाश्च मासाश्चार्तवा ऋतुभिः सह । उच्छिष्टे घोषिणीराप स्तनयित्नुः श्रुतिर्मही
Half-months and months, seasonal periods together with the seasons; in the remnant, the resounding waters, thunder, hearing, the earth.
{२०} शर्कराः सिकता अश्मान ओषधयो वीरुधस्तृणा । अभ्राणि विद्युतो वर्षमुच्छिष्टे संश्रिता श्रिता
Gravel, sand, stones, medicinal herbs, plants, grasses; clouds, lightning, rain, in the remnant, are gathered, are contained.
राद्धिः प्राप्तिः समाप्तिर्व्याप्तिर्मह एधतुः । अत्याप्तिरुच्छिष्टे भूतिश्चाहिता निहिता हिता
Success, attainment, completion, pervasion, greatness, increase; excessive attainment, in the remnant, prosperity, what is placed, what is deposited, what is beneficial.
यच्च प्राणति प्राणेन यच्च पश्यति चक्षुषा । उच्छिष्टाज्जज्ञिरे सर्वे दिवि देवा दिविश्रितः
Whatever breathes with breath, whatever sees with the eye; all were born from the remnant, the gods in heaven, those abiding in heaven.
ऋचः सामानि छन्दांसि पुराणं यजुषा सह । उच्छिष्टाज्जज्ञिरे सर्वे दिवि देवा दिविश्रितः
The Rig verses, the Sama chants, the meters, the ancient lore together with the Yajus; all were born from the remnant, the gods in heaven, those abiding in heaven.
प्राणापानौ चक्षुः श्रोत्रमक्षितिश्च क्षितिश्च या । उच्छिष्टाज्जज्ञिरे सर्वे दिवि देवा दिविश्रितः
Breath and exhalation, sight, hearing, what is imperishable and what is perishable; all were born from the remnant, the gods in heaven, those abiding in heaven.
आनन्दा मोदाः प्रमुदोऽभीमोदमुदश्च ये । उच्छिष्टाज्जज्ञिरे सर्वे दिवि देवा दिविश्रितः
Joys, delights, gladness, supreme delight, and happiness; all were born from the remnant, the gods in heaven, those abiding in heaven.
देवाः पितरो मनुष्या गन्धर्वाप्सरसश्च ये । उच्छिष्टाज्जज्ञिरे सर्वे दिवि देवा दिविश्रितः
The gods, ancestors, humans, Gandharvas, and Apsarases; all were born from the remnant, the gods in heaven, those abiding in heaven.
11.8(११.१०) यन् मन्युर्जायामावहत्संकल्पस्य गृहादधि । क आसं जन्याः के वराः क उ ज्येष्ठवरोऽभवत्
When wrath brought forth the wife, from the house of intention; who were the offspring, who were the best, who became the eldest and the best?
तपश्चैवास्तां कर्म चान्तर्महत्यर्णवे । त आसं जन्यास्ते वरा ब्रह्म ज्येष्ठवरोऽभवत्
Austerity and action were there within the great ocean; those were the offspring, those were the best, Brahma became the eldest and the best.
दश साकमजायन्त देवा देवेभ्यः पुरा । यो वै तान् विद्यात्प्रत्यक्षं स वा अद्य महद्वदेत्
Ten together were born, the gods, formerly from the gods; whoever knows them directly, he today may declare the great.
प्राणापानौ चक्षुः श्रोत्रमक्षितिश्च क्षितिश्च या । व्यानोदानौ वाङ्मनस्ते वा आकूतिमावहन्
Breath and exhalation, sight, hearing, what is imperishable and what is perishable; expansion and upward breath, speech and mind, they brought forth intention.
अजाता आसन्न् ऋतवोऽथो धाता बृहस्पतिः । इन्द्राग्नी अश्विना तर्हि कं ते ज्येष्ठमुपासत
The seasons were unborn, then the creator, Brihaspati, Indra and Agni, the Ashvins; whom did they worship as the eldest?
तपश्चैवास्तां कर्म चान्तर्महत्यर्णवे । तपो ह जज्ञे कर्मणस्तत्ते ज्येष्ठमुपासत
Austerity and action were there within the great ocean; austerity was indeed born from action, that they worshipped as the eldest.
येत आसीद्भूमिः पूर्वा यामद्धातय इद्विदुः । यो वै तां विद्यान् नामथा स मन्येत पुराणवित्
That which was the former earth, which the creators know; whoever knows it by name, let him consider himself a knower of ancient things.
कुत इन्द्रः कुतः सोमः कुतो अग्निरजायत । कुतस्त्वष्टा समभवत्कुतो धाताजायत
From where did Indra arise, from where Soma, from where was Agni born? From where did Tvaṣṭṛ come forth, from where was Dhātṛ born?
इन्द्रादिन्द्रः सोमात्सोमो अग्नेरग्निरजायत । त्वष्टा ह जज्ञे त्वष्टुर्धातुर्धाताजायत
From Indra came Indra, from Soma came Soma, from Agni came Agni; Tvaṣṭṛ was indeed born from Tvaṣṭṛ, Dhātṛ was born from Dhātṛ.
