चक्षुः श्रोत्रं यशो अस्मासु धेह्यन्नं रेतो लोहितमुदरम्
Bestow upon us sight, hearing, glory, food, seed, blood, and the belly.
तानि कल्पन् ब्रह्मचारी सलिलस्य पृष्ठे तपोऽतिष्ठत्तप्यमानः समुद्रे । स स्नातो बभ्रुः पिङ्गलः पृथिव्यां बहु रोचते
The student, forming these, stood on the surface of the water, practicing austerity, burning in the ocean. Bathed, tawny, golden-brown, he shines greatly on the earth.
11.6(११.८) अग्निं ब्रूमो वनस्पतीन् ओषधीरुत वीरुधः । इन्द्रं बृहस्पतिं सूर्यं ते नो मुञ्चन्त्वंहसः
We invoke Agni, the forest trees, the plants, and the herbs. May Indra, Bṛhaspati, and Sūrya release us from sin.
ब्रूमो राजानं वरुणं मित्रं विष्णुमथो भगम् । अंशं विवस्वन्तं ब्रूमस्ते नो मुञ्चन्त्वंहसः
We invoke King Varuṇa, Mitra, Viṣṇu, and Bhaga. We invoke Aṃśa and Vivasvant. May they release us from sin.
ब्रूमो देवं सवितारं धातारमुत पूषणम् । त्वष्टारमग्रियं ब्रूमस्ते नो मुञ्चन्त्वंहसः
We invoke the divine Savitar, the Creator, and also Pūṣan; we call upon Tvaṣṭṛ, the foremost. May they release us from distress.
गन्धर्वाप्सरसो ब्रूमो अश्विना ब्रह्मणस्पतिम् । अर्यमा नाम यो देवस्ते नो मुञ्चन्त्वंहसः
We invoke the Gandharvas and Apsarases, the Aśvins, and Bṛhaspati; Aryaman, the deity by name. May they release us from distress.
अहोरात्रे इदं ब्रूमः सूर्याचन्द्रमसावुभा । विश्वान् आदित्यान् ब्रूमस्ते नो मुञ्चन्त्वंहसः
We invoke day and night, the Sun and the Moon both; we call upon all the Ādityas. May they release us from distress.
वातं ब्रूमः पर्जन्यमन्तरिक्षमथो दिशः । आशाश्च सर्वा ब्रूमस्ते नो मुञ्चन्त्वंहसः
We invoke the Wind, Parjanya, the atmosphere, and the directions; all the regions as well. May they release us from distress.
मुञ्चन्तु मा शपथ्यादहोरात्रे अथो उषाः । सोमो मा देवो मुञ्चतु यमाहुश्चन्द्रमा इति
May day and night, and also the dawns, release me from curses; may Soma, the god whom they call the Moon, release me.
पार्थिवा दिव्याः पशव आरण्या उत ये मृगाः । शकुन्तान् पक्षिणो ब्रूमस्ते नो मुञ्चन्त्वंहसः
We invoke the earthly and heavenly cattle, the forest-dwelling animals, and those who are wild; birds and winged creatures. May they release us from distress.
भवाशर्वाविदं ब्रूमो रुद्रं पशुपतिश्च यः । इषूर्या एषां संविद्म ता नः सन्तु सदा शिवाः
We invoke Bhava and Śarva, Rudra, and Paśupati; we know the arrows of these. May they always be auspicious for us.
दिवं ब्रूमो नक्षत्राणि भूमिं यक्षाणि पर्वतान् । समुद्रा नद्यो वेशन्तास्ते नो मुञ्चन्त्वंहसः
We invoke the sky, the stars, the earth, the Yakṣas, the mountains; the oceans, rivers, and settlements. May they release us from distress.
{१७} सप्तऋषीन् वा इदं ब्रूमोऽपो देवीः प्रजापतिम् । पितॄन् यमश्रेष्ठान् ब्रूमस्ते नो मुञ्चन्त्वंहसः ।११॥ ये देवा दिविषदो अन्तरिक्षसदश्च ये । पृथिव्यां शक्रा ये श्रितास्ते नो मुञ्चन्त्वंहसः
We invoke the Seven Sages, the divine Waters, Prajāpati; the ancestors, and Yama, the foremost. May they release us from distress. All the gods who dwell in heaven, those who reside in the atmosphere, and those who are established on earth, the mighty ones—may they release us from distress.
आदित्या रुद्रा वसवो दिवि देवा अथर्वाणः । अङ्गिरसो मनीषिणस्ते नो मुञ्चन्त्वंहसः
We invoke the Ādityas, Rudras, Vasus, the gods of heaven, the Atharvans, the Angirases, the wise ones. May they release us from distress.
यज्ञं ब्रूमो यजमानमृचः सामानि भेषजा । यजूंषि होत्रा ब्रूमस्ते नो मुञ्चन्त्वंहसः
We invoke the sacrifice, the sacrificer, the Ṛg verses, the Sāma chants, the medicines; the Yajus formulas and the Hotṛ priests. May they release us from distress.
पञ्च राज्यानि वीरुधां सोमश्रेष्ठानि ब्रूमः । दर्भो भङ्गो यवः सहस्ते नो मुञ्चन्त्वंहसः
We invoke the five royal plants, the best among them being Soma; darbha grass, hemp, barley, and others. May they release us from distress.
अरायान् ब्रूमो रक्षांसि सर्पान् पुण्यजनान् पितॄन् । मृत्यून् एकशतं ब्रूमस्ते नो मुञ्चन्त्वंहसः
We invoke the enemies, the Rākṣasas, serpents, virtuous people, and ancestors; we call upon a hundred forms of death. May they release us from distress.
ऋतून् ब्रूम ऋतुपतीन् आर्तवान् उत हायनान् । समाः संवत्सरान् मासांस्ते नो मुञ्चन्त्वंहसः
We invoke the seasons, their lords, the periods, and the years; the years, the cycles, and the months. May they release us from distress.
एत देवा दक्षिणतः पश्चात्प्राञ्च उदेत । पुरस्तादुत्तराच्छक्रा विश्वे देवाः समेत्य ते नो मुञ्चन्त्वंहसः
These gods are to the south, to the west, to the east, and to the north; the mighty gods, all assembled. May they release us from distress.
विश्वान् देवान् इदं ब्रूमः सत्यसन्धान् ऋतावृधः । विश्वाभिः पत्नीभिः सह ते नो मुञ्चन्त्वंहसः
We invoke all the gods, steadfast in truth and grown in righteousness, together with all their wives. May they release us from distress.
सर्वान् देवान् इदं ब्रूमः सत्यसन्धान् ऋतावृधः । सर्वाभिः पत्नीभिः सह ते नो मुञ्चन्त्वंहसः
We invoke all the gods, steadfast in truth and grown in righteousness, together with all their wives. May they release us from distress.
भूतं ब्रूमो भूतपतिं भूतानामुत यो वशी । भूतानि सर्वा संगत्य ते नो मुञ्चन्त्वंहसः
We invoke the beings, their lord, and the master of all creatures; when all beings assemble, may they release us from distress.
या देवीः पञ्च प्रदिशो ये देवा द्वादश ऋतवः । संवत्सरस्य ये दंष्ट्रास्ते नः सन्तु सदा शिवाः
May those goddesses who are the five directions, and those gods who are the twelve months, and the fangs of the year, always be auspicious for us.
यन् मातली रथक्रीतममृतं वेद भेषजम् । तदिन्द्रो अप्सु प्रावेशयत्तदापो दत्त भेषजम्
That immortal remedy which Mātalī, the charioteer, knows, Indra placed it in the waters; let the waters give that remedy.
11.7(११.९) उच्छिष्टे नाम रूपं चोच्छिष्टे लोक आहितः । उच्छिष्ट इन्द्रश्चाग्निश्च विश्वमन्तः समाहितम्
In the remainder is name and form, and in the remainder the world is established; Indra and Agni are in the remainder, and all is gathered within it.
उच्छिष्टे द्यावापृथिवी विश्वं भूतं समाहितम् । आपः समुद्र उच्छिष्टे चन्द्रमा वात आहितः
In the remainder are heaven and earth, all beings are gathered; waters, ocean, remainder, moon, wind are established.
सन्न् उच्छिष्टे असंश्चोभौ मृत्युर्वाजः प्रजापतिः । लौक्या उच्छिष्ट आयत्ता व्रश्च द्रश्चापि श्रीर्मयि
Both the true and the untrue are in the remainder; death, strength, and the lord of creatures; worldly things are dependent on the remainder, and both injury and vision, as well as prosperity, are in me.
दृढो दृंह स्थिरो न्यो ब्रह्म विश्वसृजो दश । नाभिमिव सर्वतश्चक्रमुच्छिष्टे देवताः श्रिताः
Firm, strengthen, stable, new, the ten creators of the universe; like a navel, a wheel from all sides, the deities are established in the remainder.
ऋक्साम यजुरुच्छिष्ट उद्गीथः प्रस्तुतं स्तुतम् । हिङ्कार उच्छिष्टे स्वरः साम्नो मेडिश्च तन् मयि
The Ṛg, Sāma, and Yajur are in the remainder; the udgītha, the prastuta, and the praise; the hiṅkāra, the remainder, the tone, and the meḍi of the Sāman are in me.
ऐन्द्राग्नं पावमानं महानाम्नीर्महाव्रतम् । उच्छिष्टे यज्ञस्याङ्गान्यन्तर्गर्भ इव मातरि
Indra-Agni, Pavamāna, Mahānāmni, the great vow; in the remainder are the limbs of the sacrifice, as the embryo within the mother.
