The eagle found you, the boar dug you up for us. O herb, let the counter-morsel destroy the morsel and remove the juices.
Indra made you for the arms, to overcome the Asuras. O herb, let the counter-morsel destroy the morsel and remove the juices.
Indra ate the pāṭā plant, to overcome the Asuras. O herb, let the counter-morsel destroy the morsel and remove the juices.
With you I strike down enemies, as Indra did the Sālāvrikā demons. O herb, let the counter-morsel destroy the morsel and remove the juices.
O Rudra, healer with water, blue-crested, doer of deeds, O herb, let the counter-morsel destroy the morsel and remove the juices.
You, destroy the morsel of him who attacks us, not Indra. Speak to us with your powers; O morsel, make me superior.
May only old age grow for you; let this disease afflict others, for they are death-bringers, a hundred in number. Like a mother with her child in her lap, let a friend protect him from harm, not an enemy.
Let Mitra, Varuna, or the Rishadā gods, who are united, create old age and death for him. Agni, the priest, knowing the rites, distinguishes the origins of all the gods.
You rule over the creatures of earth, those born and those who are creators. Let my breath remain, let not my vital air depart; let friends not slay me, nor foes.
Heaven is your father, earth your mother; let them, united, create old age and death. As one lives in Aditi’s lap, protected by breath and vital air, may he live a hundred winters.
Agni, lead this dear seed for life and brilliance; Varuna, Mitra, king, protect it. Like Aditi, grant him shelter; all gods, let him reach old age as is fitting.
From the essence of earth, from the strength of Bhaga’s body, may Agni, Surya, and Brihaspati grant us long life and brilliance.
Jātavedas, grant him long life; Tvashtar, bestow offspring upon him. Savitar, grant him wealth and nourishment; may he live a hundred autumns.
May you grant him nourishment, good offspring, wisdom, wealth, and understanding. Indra, conquer the fields with strength, and make other rivals subordinate.
Given by Indra, instructed by Varuna, sent by the fierce Maruts, let him come to us. In the lap of heaven and earth, let him not hunger or thirst.
Grant him nourishment, O nourisher; grant him milk, O milk-giver. Heaven and earth, grant him nourishment; all gods, Maruts, and waters, grant him nourishment.
With auspicious wishes, I satisfy the heart; may you be free from disease, joyful, and radiant. Asvins, drink this churned potion, wearing your magical form.
Indra created this, knowing the foremost nourishment, ageless and self-sustaining; this is it. With it, live through the autumns, radiant; let not harmful doctors injure you.
Just as the wind stirs grass upon the earth, so I stir your mind, as those who desire me, as my mind does not go away.
May you, Asvins, bring together those who desire, may you unite them. May the fortunes come to you, may thoughts and vows unite.
Where the birds fly, free from disease, let my love go there, like a dart piercing a tender spot.
What is inside is outside, what is outside is inside. I seize the minds of maidens of all forms, O herb.
This woman desires a husband, I desire her; I have come. Like a neighing horse, with fortune, I have come together with her.
With Indra’s great stone, the destroyer of worms, the remover of all, I crush the worms, as with a pestle grinding grain.
Seen and unseen, with or without a mouth, and those of the Kurus without a mouth— all the crawling worms, all the worms, with words we strike them down.
I slay the crawling worms with a mighty blow; those that are weak, those that are not weak, those without essence, have perished. The remaining, the not remaining, I drive away with words, so that none of the worms are left behind.
The worms in the intestines, in the head, and those in the sides— the worms in the excrement, the ones that cause disease— with words we strike down these worms.
The worms that are in the mountains, in the forests, in the plants, in the animals, in the waters— those that have entered our bodies, all these I destroy, the entire lineage of worms.
Rising, may the Sun destroy the worms; setting, may he destroy them with his rays— those worms that are inside the cow.
The many-formed, four-eyed worm, the speckled, the white one— I tear apart its backs, I also cut off its head.
