This is the remedy for the evil serpent, and for both the native and the foreign; Indra made the serpent powerless for me, Paidva rendered it harmless.
We honor Paidva, steadfast and firm in his abode; these venomous ones, the destroyers, sit shining behind.
Their life-force and poison are lost, slain by Indra the wielder of the bolt; Indra has struck, and so have we.
Slain are the venomous, the long-living, crushed are the destroyers; strike the black one with the ladle, the white one with darbha grass.
The Kirāta maiden, together with her companions, digs the remedy with golden spades on the slopes of the mountains.
The young healer has come, the spotted one, unconquered; he paralyzes the native and the foreign, and both the scorpions.
Indra made the serpent powerless for me, as did Mitra and Varuṇa, and both Wind and Parjanya.
Indra made the serpent and the destroyer powerless for me; the native, the venomous, the black one, the ten-fanged one.
Indra struck down the first great begetter; among those who were thirsting, who among them had the essence, who was without the sap?
He seized the heads together, like a cluster of berries; having crossed to the middle of the river, he expelled the poison of the serpent.
Let the rivers carry away the poison of all the serpents; the slain, the long-defeated, the crushed, the scattered.
Among the plants I choose the best, as one chooses fertile fields; as a skilled driver leads the horse, so let the poison depart.
Whatever poison is in fire, in the sun, in the earth, or in the plants—let the poison called kāndā and kanaknaka depart from you.
Those born from fire, from plants, from serpents, those born in the waters, from lightning—of all those great and manifold serpents, we pay homage with reverence.
You are called Taudī, you are called Ghṛtācī; I have set your step below, as a destroyer of poison.
From limb to limb drive it out, remove it from the heart; let the downward force of the poison go away from you.
Far away has the poison gone, the poison has fled eastward; Agni has burned up the poison of the serpent, Soma has carried it away; the poison has followed the fang into immortality.
