The intestines are of Sinīvālī, the skin is said to be of Sūryā; those who made the bull rise up said, 'Let him have a step.'
The loins are of Jāmiśaṃsa, the bladder is held for Soma; when the gods assembled, they fashioned the bull entirely.
Those hooves they gave to Sarama, the nails to the tortoises; the hair they assigned to the insects and to the burrowing creatures.
With his horns he protects, with his tail he drives away, with his eyes he strikes; with his ears he hears what is good—he who is the lord of cows and of the unyoked ones.
He who sacrifices with a hundred offerings, him the fires do not harm; all the gods favor him who offers the bull to the Brahmin.
Having given the bull to the Brahmins, he makes his mind more excellent; he sees the prosperity of the cows in his own cattle-pen.
May there be cows, may there be offspring, and may bodily strength exist as well. May all the gods consent to this, for the giver of the bull.
Let this one, drinking, O Indra, grant intelligence to the herd. Let this one yield a cow, richly giving milk, always with a calf, yielding at will, wise, surpassing heaven.
Of tawny form, holding the winds of the sky, Indra's force, of all forms, has come to us. May it grant us long life, offspring, and wealth with abundance, and may it be with us.
Come near, come to the enclosure for the offering, come close to us. Come to the seed of the bull, to the strength of you, O Indra.
To this young one we dedicate you here; with him, play and move about, following the will. Do not abandon us, endowed with good fortune, by birth; and with wealth and abundance, be with us.
Lead this one here, seize him, let him go to the world of the righteous, knowing. Having crossed the great darknesses in many forms, let the goat ascend to the third heaven.
For Indra I lead you around as a share, in this sacrifice, for the patron of the sacrifice. Those who hate us, seize them in turn, O heroes, innocent for the patron of the sacrifice.
Let your feet not be stained by evil conduct you may have done; with pure hooves, step forth, knowing. Having crossed the many great darknesses, seeing clearly, let the goat ascend to the third heaven.
Having removed this skin with the dark one, as one would with a jointed knife, do not harm us. Do not, with harshness or malice, prepare him; let him rest in the third heaven.
With a verse I place him in the vessel, in the midst of the fire; pour water over him. Let those who calm with fire surround him; let the cooked one go where the world of the righteous is.
Depart, go forth, whether uncooked or cooked, ascend above to the third heaven. From fire you have become fire; conquer the world full of light.
The goat is Agni, they say the goat is light, the goat, living, is to be given to the Brahman. The goat drives away darkness far off, given in this world with faith.
Let the five-rice-offering proceed in five ways, striving, to the three lights. Go, desiring the world of the righteous, to the middle, and rest in the third heaven.
Goat, ascend to where the world of the righteous is, like a wild ram, not stopped, overcoming difficult places. The five-rice-offering, given to the Brahman, satisfies the giver with contentment.
The goat, in the three heavens, in the triple sky, on the back of heaven, places the offering. The five-rice-offering, given to the Brahman, is the all-formed cow, the wish-fulfilling one, the only one.
This, your light, O Fathers, is the third; the five-rice-offering, the goat, is given to the Brahman. The goat drives away darkness far off, given in this world with faith.
Desiring the world of the righteous, the five-rice-offering, the goat, is given to the Brahman. May he conquer the world with expansion; may the accepted one be auspicious for us.
The goat was indeed born from Agni's heat, the inspired one from the inspired, the powerful, the wise. May the gods arrange the desired, the fulfilled, the well-completed, and the vaṣaṭ-offering in due season.
One should give an uncut garment and gold as the sacrificial gift; thus one attains all worlds, both celestial and earthly.
Let these streams approach you, O Soma, divine, ghee-backed, flowing with honey; they uphold the earth and the sky, and on the summit of heaven, upon the seven-rayed.
You are unborn, you are the unborn; you are heaven; through you, Angiras attained the world; may I know that auspicious world.
By you, O Agni, a thousand is carried, by you, all the Vedas; with you, carry this sacrifice of ours, so that we may reach the heavenly realms.
The goat, cooked, establishes itself in the heavenly world, offering five portions of rice, driving away destruction; by this, may we conquer the worlds of the sun.
That which is placed in the Brahmin, that which is in the villages, and the moisture of the rice offerings of the goat—all this, O Agni, in the world of the virtuous, may you know for us at the meeting of the paths.
