Whoever, O Maruts, thinks himself too great for us, or whoever reviles our prayer as it is being made—may sufferings and misfortunes befall him; Heaven itself oppresses the hater of prayer.
The seven breaths, the eight thoughts—I cut them off with the power of prayer. By this, the messenger of Yama, Agni, has made the seat of death powerless.
I place your step in the kindled Jātavedas. May Agni envelop the body; may the breath and speech depart as they should.
Grant long life, O Agni, choosing vigor; O Agni, with ghee as your front and back. Having drunk the ghee, the sweet, the cow's gift, protect this one as a father protects his sons.
Bestow, bestow upon us brilliance; remove old age and death, grant long life. Bṛhaspati has given this garment; let it be put on for Soma, the king.
May you put on this garment for well-being; you have become the protector of dwellings, the warder-off of curses. Live a hundred autumns, O wide-seeing one, and gather abundant wealth and prosperity.
Come, stand firm as a stone; let your body be as hard as stone. May all the gods grant you a hundred years of life.
Of the garment which is your first clothing, I take that for you; may all the gods protect you. May your strong brothers be born after you, many and well-born, growing together.
We destroy the rootless, the bold, the one-minded, the greedy, and all the offspring of the fierce one, the constant foes.
We drive you out from the cow-pen, from the goats, from the oxen, from the shoes; we drive you out, Magundya's daughters, from the houses.
Whoever is in the lowest part of the house, there is the place for the restless; there let them lie down, and all the sorcerers as well.
Let the lord of beings drive them out, and Indra be aware, O constant foes. Let Indra, seated at the foundation of the house, stand guard with his thunderbolt.
Whether you are of the cultivators, or sent by men, or born from the Dasyus—let these constant foes perish.
I have surrounded their abodes, as the day encircles the wood. I have conquered all of you in battle; let these constant foes perish.
Just as heaven and earth are neither afraid nor harmed, so, O my breath, do not be afraid.
Just as day and night are neither afraid nor harmed, so, O my breath, do not be afraid.
Just as the sun and the moon are neither afraid nor harmed, so, O my breath, do not be afraid.
Just as the priestly power and the royal power are neither afraid nor harmed, so, O my breath, do not be afraid.
Just as truth and falsehood are neither afraid nor harmed, so, O my breath, do not be afraid.
Just as the past and the future are neither afraid nor harmed, so, O my breath, do not be afraid.

O Agni Vaiśvānara, protect me with all the gods—svāhā.

O All-supporting one, protect me with all support—svāhā.

You are life; give me life—svāhā.
