The gods, unskilled, also sacrificed with dog’s flesh, and with cow’s limbs, in many ways they sacrificed. Whoever understands this sacrifice with the mind, let him speak to us here, let him declare it.
Aditi is the sky, Aditi is the atmosphere, Aditi is mother, father, and son. All the gods are Aditi, the five peoples are Aditi, Aditi is birth, Aditi is creation.
We call upon the great mother of the virtuous, the wife of immortality, for help. Mighty in power, unfading, broad, Aditi, giver of good shelter and excellent guidance.
May we reach the earth, the sky, free from harm, Aditi, giver of good shelter and excellent guidance, the divine ship, well-constructed, sinless, flowing, for our well-being.
At the birth of strength, we make the name of great Aditi, mother, with words. In whose lap lies the wide atmosphere, may she grant us triple-shielded protection.
I have acted for the sons of Diti and Aditi, for the gods, for their vast powers. Their abode is deep, oceanic; none is superior to them in reverence.
Go forth from good fortune to greater prosperity; may Brihaspati be your leader. Now, from this best region of earth, remove the hostile, make all men your own.
On the broad path, Pūṣan was born; on the path of heaven, on the path of earth. In both beloved abodes, he moves forward and backward, knowing.
May Pūṣan know all these directions; may he lead us with the greatest fearlessness. Giver of well-being, radiant, all-powerful, unwearied, let him go ahead, knowing.
Pūṣan, under your command, may we never suffer harm at any time. We are your singers here.
Let Pūṣan place his hand beyond, on the right. May what is lost return to us; with what is recovered, may we unite.
Your breast, which is nourishing, joyful, gracious, inviting, and generous, by which you sustain all treasures, Sarasvati, may we place it here for our benefit.
Your broad, thundering breast, which is lofty, divine, whose radiance adorns all this, do not destroy our crops with lightning, O god, nor harm them with the rays of the sun.
May the assembly and the council protect me, daughters of Prajapati, in agreement. By whom we unite, may he teach me; may I speak beautifully among the gathered elders.
We know your name, O assembly; you are called Unharmed. Whoever are your members, let them all be well-spoken toward me.
Among those who are gathered here, I grant brilliance and discernment. O Indra, make me share in the fortune of this entire assembly.
Whatever thought of yours has gone elsewhere, or is bound here or there, we turn that back to you; may your mind find delight in me.
Just as the sun, rising among the stars, takes their brilliance, so I take the radiance of those who hate among women and men.
However many rivals you see approaching, as the sun rises over those who sleep, so I take the radiance of those who hate.
I praise that god Savitar, of wondrous power and wise action, of true impulse, the treasure-holder, with a dear thought.
His thought rises upward, shining in his strength; the skillful one, with golden hands, has measured out the sky with compassion.
O god, raise him up to the highest place for the first father; grant him breadth and greatness. Then, O Savitar, day by day, bestow on us noble things and abundant cattle.
The god Savitar, worthy of choice, grants treasures and lifespans to the fathers; let him drink soma, let him rejoice in this offering; even the path-finder moves according to his law.
That true-minded, splendid favor of Savitar I choose, all-encompassing and gracious, which Kanva milked from him, rich and overflowing, like a thousand-streamed bull for fortune.
O Bṛhaspati, O Savitar, make him grow, make him shine for great good fortune. Even if he is restrained or hindered, release him; let all the gods together rejoice in him.
May Dhātṛ, the lord of the world, grant us wealth; may he give us fullness.
May Dhātṛ grant the worshiper an unbroken, long life in the east. We seek the favor of the god, who is generous to all.
May Dhātṛ grant all desirable things to the worshiper who desires offspring in his home. May all the gods, together with Aditi, bestow immortality on him.
May the gifts of Dhātṛ and Savitar be accepted here; may Prajāpati, the lord of treasures, and Agni favor us. May Tvaṣṭṛ and Viṣṇu, increasing offspring, grant wealth to the sacrificer.
O sky, break open this heavenly space; O earth, rise up. O lord Dhātṛ, ruler of the sky, remove the barrier for us.
