As the waters held back Vritra, restraining all his might, so with Agni, with Vaisvanara, I ward off illness from you.
The mighty Indra is the bull of heaven, the bull of earth is this one; be you the single bull of all that exists.
The ocean is lord of flowing streams, Agni is master of earth; the moon is lord of the stars—be you the single bull among them.
You are the sovereign of the gods, the leader of men; you have a share among the gods—be you the single bull.
I have brought you here from within; stand firm, unmoving; may all the people desire you, may your rule not fall away.
Remain here, do not depart, stand firm like a mountain; like Indra, stand steady here, uphold your rule here.
Indra upheld this, the firm, with firm offering; to him Soma declared, and so did Brahmanaspati.
Heaven is firm, earth is firm, all this world is firm; these mountains are firm, the king of the people is firm.
Firm is your king Varuna, firm is the god Brihaspati; may Indra and Agni together uphold your rule firmly.
Firm, unshaken one, strike down your enemies, subdue those hostile to you; may all directions be united in purpose, may your assembly here be established firmly.
This excellent head, given by Soma with strength, from that, with what is born from it, we burn away what is in your heart.
We burn away what is in your heart, we burn away what is in your mind; as wind disperses smoke, so may whatever is in your mind depart from me.
For me, may Mitra and Varuna, may the goddess Sarasvati, for me, may the middle space of earth, both ends, be united.
Whatever arrow Rudra has let loose against your limbs or your heart, this very day, O twin-born one, we drive away that disease.
Whatever hundreds of your darts are fixed in the limbs, of all these, we call them out, deprived of their poison.
Homage to you, Rudra, homage to the one who is opposed, homage to the one who is released, homage to the one who has fallen.
With these eightfold and sixfold mixtures they have prepared this barley; by this, may the stains of your body be washed away and flow off to the west.
The wind blows downward, the sun burns downward; the unmilked cow gives milk downward—may your impurity also become downward.
Waters are indeed healing, waters drive away disease; waters are the remedy for all—may those waters make healing for you.
Become swift as the wind, O steed, yoked and ready; go with Indra’s urging, swift as thought. Let the Maruts, all-knowing, yoke you; may Tvashtar place speed in your feet in battle.
Your swiftness, O horse, is hidden in secret, whether in the eagle, in the wind, or moving around; with that strength, O powerful one, win the contest, surpass your rivals in the race.
May your own form, O steed, lead your body; may favor run to us and protection to you. May the god, unhurried, measure out great support for you, as the light in the sky measures its own.
Yama, Death, Aghamāra, Nirṛti, Babhru, Sharva, Astā, and Nīlaśikhaṇḍa—the hosts of the divine beings have arisen; may they keep our heroes safe from harm.
With mind, with offerings, with ghee, I honor Sharva, Astra, and the king Bhava; I bow to them, I make reverence to them—may they lead the harm-bringers away from us.
Protect us from the harm-bringers, from slaughter, O all gods, O Maruts, all-knowing; Agni and Soma, Varuṇa of pure skill, may we be in the favor of Vāta and Parjanya.
May your minds, your vows, your intentions be united; those of you who are divided, to them also I bring unity.
With my mind I take hold of your minds; let my thought enter your thoughts. I make your hearts subject to me; follow my path as you go.
Heaven and earth are woven into me, and the goddess Sarasvatī; Indra and Agni are woven into me—may Sarasvatī grant me success in this.
The holy fig tree is the dwelling of the gods, the third in the boundless sky; there the gods found the healing kuṣṭha, the vision of immortality.
A golden ship, bound with gold, moved in the sky; there the gods found the flower of immortality, the healing kuṣṭha.
