To the iron, the wooden, the piercing bonds, and those named here, and to the thousand deaths—may Yama, together with the ancestors, raise this one to the highest heaven.
O youthful, mighty Agni, you are kindled among all peoples; you are enkindled at the place of offering—bring us wealth.
Come together, speak together, let your minds be united; as the gods of old, being of one mind, worshipped their share.
United be your intention, united your assembly, united your thought; I offer your oblation with united offering—unite your minds together.
United be your purpose, united your hearts; may your minds be one, so that you may live together well.
Let anger and hostility be cast down, let the arms yoked with the mind be lowered; drive away their strength, crush their force, and grant us wealth.
From their hands, I cut away the weapon which the gods have made powerless; with this offering, I sever the arms of the enemies.
Indra first made the weapon powerless for the Asuras; may my allies win, with steadfast Indra as their support.
Let the enemy, whose hands are powerless, approach and be subdued, those who come against us with armies for battle; O Indra, deliver them to a great slaughter, strike down the doers of evil.
Those who stretch, who advance, who shoot, and those who run—may the enemies be powerless; today, Indra, drive them away.
Let the enemies be powerless; we will make their limbs wither; then, O Indra, may we scatter their knowledge in hundreds.
Indra and Pūṣan have traversed all the paths; today, let the armies of the enemies become confused and wander far away.
Let the enemies, bewildered, wander like headless horses; among those confused ones, may Agni and Indra strike them down, one by one.
Bind the bull's hide on these, make them fearful like the deer; let the enemy turn away, and let the cow approach us.
Let Savitṛ come here with the razor, with heat, with wind, with water. May the Ādityas, Rudras, and Vasus, being mindful, shave for King Soma; may the wise ones shave for him.
Let Aditi shave the beard; let the waters grant brilliance. Let Prajāpati heal for long life and clear vision.
With the razor by which Savitṛ shaves, knowing Soma and Varuṇa, with that let the Brāhmaṇa shave this one. May he be rich in cows, rich in horses, and abundant in offspring.
Whatever fame is in the golden mountains, in cows, in horses, in flowing surā, in the honey of the fermenting drink, let that be in me.
O Aśvins, anoint me with the essence, with honey, O lords of beauty, so that I may utter radiant speech among people.
May brilliance be in me, and fame, and the essence of sacrifice. May Prajāpati establish that in me, as the sky is fixed in heaven.
Just as meat, surā, dice in gambling, and the virility of a man are destroyed in a woman, so let your mind, O cow, be destroyed in the calf.
Just as the elephant joins its foot to the foot of the elephantess, and the virility of a man is destroyed in a woman, so let your mind, O cow, be destroyed in the calf.
Just as the yoke, the harness, and the navel are joined to the yoke, and the virility of a man is destroyed in a woman, so let your mind, O cow, be destroyed in the calf.
Whatever food I eat, of many kinds and forms, gold, horses, cows, goats, whatever I accept, O Agni, let the offering priest make it well-offered.
Whatever has come to me, offered or unoffered, given by ancestors and approved by men, since my mind shines forth, O Agni, let the offering priest make it well-offered.
Whatever food I eat, whether given or not given by the gods, I gather it. By the greatness of Vaiśvānara, may the nourishing, sweet food be auspicious for me.
Just as the black one spreads the hair, making forms by the magic of the Asura, so let your fetter, O powerful one, make the limb whole with the limb.
Just as the skin grows thick by the wind, as much as the skin grows from another, so may your skin grow as much.
As much as the skin of the limb, the foreign, the elephant, and the donkey, as much as the horse's, the steed's, so may your skin grow as much.
Let Varuṇa, Soma, Agni, Bṛhaspati, and the Vasus come here. Let all the kin of the fierce lord, united in mind, approach this prosperity.
