Just as they join a part, a hoof, or a tendon, so we unite all evil dreams and lead them away from the enemy.
May Agni, the universal, the creator of all, the bringer of happiness, protect us at the morning pressing; may the purifier grant us wealth, and may we be long-lived and share food together.
May all the gods, the Maruts, and Indra not abandon us at this second pressing; speaking what is dear to them, may we be favored by the gods and live long.
This is the third pressing of the wise, who filled the cup with nectar; let those of the Saudhanvanā, shining and unaging, bring us the most excellent offering.
You are a falcon, with the Gāyatrī meter; I grasp you. May you bring me prosperity, at the upward path of the sacrifice. Svāhā!
You are an Ṛbhu, with the Jagatī meter; I grasp you. May you bring me prosperity, at the upward path of the sacrifice. Svāhā!
You are a bull, with the Triṣṭubh meter; I grasp you. May you bring me prosperity, at the upward path of the sacrifice. Svāhā!
No mortal, O Agni, can harm your form; you are a monkey, you consume your own offspring, like a cow with her afterbirth.
Like a ram, you are praised and called upon, when the upper and lower jaws devour; with your head, you strike the heads of the waters, consuming the fibers with your green flames.
The winged ones utter speech, the black ones cry out in the fields; they lead away the uppermost portion, many seeds are placed, resting upon the sun.
Strike down the tarda, the samaṅka, the ākhuma, O Aśvins; crush their heads and backs, listen to me. Let their mouths not open, let them not harm us; thus grant us safety and abundance of grain.
The tarda is a moth, the pataṅga is a moth, the jabhya is a moth, and the upakvasa as well. Like sacrificial offerings established in the Brahman's abode, these barley grains are unharmed, untouched by them.
O lord of the tarda, lord of the vagha, O you with sharp jaws, listen to me. All the forest pests and whatever other pests there are, we subdue them all.
Purified by the wind with the purifier, Soma moves swiftly forward; he is the friend yoked with Indra.
Let the waters, our mothers, cleanse us; let those rich in ghee purify us with ghee. For the divine waters carry away all defilement; I come to you, O pure ones, cleansed and purified.
Whatever offense people commit here, O Varuṇa, among the divine race—whether through ignorance or intent—do you, O wise one, release us from that sin; do not let us, O god, suffer for that transgression.
The sun rises from the womb of heaven, driving away the Rakṣasas ahead; the Āditya, seen by all, destroys the unseen from the mountains.
The cows have settled in the cow-pen, the wild animals have withdrawn; the waters of the rivers have subsided, and the unseen beings have vanished.
I have brought life, wisdom, and the renowned plant of Kanva; I have brought all-healing remedies—may they pacify the unseen forces.
May Heaven and Earth, both wise, protect this for me with their shining, great right hand; may Soma, Agni, Vāyu, Savitṛ, and Bhaga, following their proper order, guard us.
Let breath return, let the self return to us; let sight return, let life return to us. May Vaiśvānara, unfailing, abiding in our bodies, drive away all misfortunes.
May we unite with brilliance, with strength, with our bodies, with our minds, with auspiciousness. May Tvaṣṭṛ grant us greater power here; may he wipe away from our bodies whatever is defective.
This is that supreme power, yoked, which I glorify for Indra, for victory; may his sovereignty, great prosperity, grow like grass with rain.
For him, O Agni and Soma, establish sovereignty and wealth; in this assembly of the people, grant him that supreme power.
Whether with kin or without kin, whoever opposes us—destroy them all for me, for the sacrificer who pours the offering.
The many paths of the gods traverse between heaven and earth; whoever strives to follow their track, may all the gods here grant him protection.
Let summer, winter, cold season, spring, autumn, and rains bestow their whiteness upon us; may it be shared with our cattle and offspring—may we dwell in shelter, O gods.
For this year, for the next year, for the whole year, offer great homage; may we, in the favor of these worthy ones, always have good thoughts and well-being.
May the gods not let the serpent strike us, our households, or our companions; may it not break free from restraint, nor escape when held. Salutation to the divine beings; homage to the black one, homage to the striped one, to the long-living one; homage to the tawny one of its own kind, homage, homage to the divine beings.
I strike you together with your givers and supporters; I strike you together with those who strike with you. I bind your tongue with my tongue, I close your mouth with my breath.
