The highest of your herbs, the support of your trees; let that support be ours, against whoever attacks us.
Whether with kin or without kin, whoever attacks us; among them, may I be the highest, like the trees.
As Soma is the highest among plants and is made the best of offerings, so may I become the highest among trees, like the tala and asha trees.
The juices that bring harm and those that do not, the strong juices—these are yours. With these, we prepare your porridge.
Your father is called Vihahla, your mother is called Madavati. You are the one who harms yourself, you who are your own enemy.
Tauvilika, Velaya, Ayamailaba, Ailayit, Babhru, and Babhrukarna—depart, vanish!
You are Alasala in the east, Silanjala in the north, and Nilagalasala.
Just as this great earth has taken the embryo of beings, so may your embryo be held firm, to be brought forth at the right time.
Just as this great earth has supported these trees, so may your embryo be held firm, to be brought forth at the right time.
Just as this great earth has supported mountains and hills, so may your embryo be held firm, to be brought forth at the right time.
Just as this great earth has supported the settled world, so may your embryo be held firm, to be brought forth at the right time.
The first and foremost band of jealousy, and the one that follows after, the fire of heart-burning grief—we extinguish that for you.
Just as the earth, with a dead mind, covers the dead, so may my mind, dead to envy, cover over the dead feeling of jealousy.
That which is lodged in your heart, the restless mind, from that I release you from jealousy, as heat is released from a burning thing.
May the divine beings purify me, may men purify me with their thought, may all creatures purify me, may the purifying one cleanse me.
May the purifying one cleanse me for resolve, for skill, for life; and also for unharmed well-being.
With both, O god Savitar, with the purifier and with the pressing, purify us for clear sight.
He burns like fire, he comes with force, and, like a drunkard, he departs wailing. Let the lawless one seek someone else; to the one who first harmed, let homage be.
Homage to Rudra, homage to the one who first harmed, homage to King Varuna, the radiant; homage to the sky, homage to the earth, homage to the plants.
This one who scorches, who makes all forms green, to him, the ruddy, the tawny, I offer homage—to the wild one, to the first harmer.
These three earths exist, and among them the ground is the highest. Upon them, I have gathered the medicine from their skin.
You are the best among medicines, the most excellent among herbs. Like Soma among the nights, like Varuna among the gods.
Radiant, unconquered, you desire to nourish; you nourish. You are also those that strengthen the hair, and those that promote its growth.
Dark-flowing, the tawny ones, the splendid-winged, wearing water, rise up to the sky. They have returned from the seat of order; at first, with ghee, they spread out the earth.

The Maruts have lifted up the rain, which fills all dwellings. It moves, like a girl weaving with her spindle, like a wife for her husband.
She has flowed, the waters have flowed by day and night. I call upon the divine waters, with noble intent.
The waters, active in their work, release themselves for guidance. They quickly act for benefit.
By the impulse of the divine Savitar, let humans perform their work. May the waters and herbs be auspicious for us.
From the Himalayas they flow, meeting together in the river. The divine waters have given me that medicine shining in the heart.
