May I live on—may my days be full, may I reach the span of life destined for me. May we all live together, sharing the fullness of our days; may I, too, complete my allotted years. Let us live long, let life continue; may I fulfill the measure of my time. Indra, may you live; Sun, may you live; gods, may you live; may I too live, reaching the fullness of my years. I turn to the Giver of boons, the Mother of the Veda, whom I praise—may she inspire the pure-hearted among the twice-born. Let her grant me life, breath, children, cattle, fame, wealth, and the brilliance that comes from sacred knowledge. May she, having bestowed these blessings, ascend to the world of Brahman. From the vessel from which we drew forth the Veda, let us return it there once more. The sacrifice has been accomplished by the power of sacred knowledge—may the gods not be displeased with us for this act of austerity. Now, we call upon you, Indra, the mighty Bull, at the pressing of Soma. Protect us, O Lord, with the sweetness of the Soma drink. He in whose dwelling the Maruts, the mighty ones of the vast sky, abide—he is the person most well-guarded. For one who eats ox-flesh, for one who eats cow-flesh, for the wise marked by Soma, let us offer praises to Agni. Let the Maruts drink the Soma from the cup, in the Suktubh meter, with radiance, in the proper season. Let Agni, from the Agnidh’s cup, in the Suktubh meter, with radiance, in the proper season, drink the Soma. Let Indra, as priest, from the Brahman’s cup, in the Suktubh meter, with radiance, in the proper season, drink the Soma. Let the god Dravinoda, from the cup of the cup-bearer, in the Suktubh meter, with radiance, in the proper season, drink the Soma. Come hither, Indra, with eager mind; drink this Soma; this sacred grass-seat is made ready for you. Let your two tawny steeds, yoked by prayer, bring you here, Indra; listen to our hymns. With prayer we call you, Indra, drinker of Soma, together with those who offer Soma, when it is pressed. Come to us, O Soma-drinker, come to our well-praised offering; drink the sweet Soma, O beautiful-haired one. I pour it for you, let it flow through your limbs; seize the honey with your tongue. Let the sweet, well-filtered, honeyed Soma please your body; may Soma bring peace to your heart. This Soma, O wise one, is pressed for you, surrounded as a mother by her children; let it flow forth to you, Indra. With a mighty neck, a strong belly, and powerful arms, Indra sits at the Soma and slays the foes. Indra, go forth in front; as lord of all strength, O slayer of foes, destroy the enemies. May your goad be long, with which you grant wealth to the one who offers and presses Soma. This Soma, purified, O Indra, is placed upon the sacred grass; come swiftly, drink of it. This Soma is pressed for your delight, for your praise, for battle; O Ākhaṇḍala, you are invoked. He whose horned bull, offspring, and Kuṇḍapāyya are yours—upon him you have set your mind. Indra, we call you, the bull, at the pressing of Soma; drink the sweetness of the Soma juice. Indra, delight in the pressed Soma, knower of resolve, much-praised; drink, be exhilarated, be satisfied. Indra, lead our inspired sacrifice with all the gods; cross over, praised one, lord of the people. Indra, these pressed Somas go forth to you, true lord; the bright drops, O Indra, are for your dwelling. Place the pressed Soma in your belly, O Indra, most excellent; the drops, O Indra, are for your strength. O singer, drink our pressed Soma; you are gladdened by streams of sweetness; O Indra, from you comes this fame. Unfailing powers attend Indra with glory; having drunk Soma, he has grown mighty. Come to us from near and far, O slayer of Vṛtra; accept these our hymns. Whenever you are invoked between the far and the near, O Indra, come here from there. You rise, O Sun, renowned, a bull, lord of men; you go to set, O Sūrya. He who with the strength of his arms shattered ninety and nine cities, and slew the serpent, the slayer of Vṛtra—may that Indra, gracious friend, rich in horses, cattle, and barley, milk for us as from a broad udder. Indra, delight in the pressed Soma, knower of resolve, much-praised; drink, be exhilarated, be satisfied. Thus, drink as before, let it gladden you; hear the prayer, grow with the hymns. Reveal the Sun, fulfill our wish, strike down the enemies, and lead the cows forward, O Indra.
