O Brahmanaspati, the winds that sweep across the world, blowing from every direction, are invoked. With Indra’s favor, may these winds become gentle and auspicious, bringing the highest good to us. Let well-being be ours, let us be free from all fear; we offer homage to day and night, the twin guardians of time. May peace pervade all: may the sky above be tranquil, the earth below be calm, and the vast space between be serene. May the flowing waters bring peace, and may the plants that cover the earth be gentle and nurturing to us. May the forms of the past rest in peace; may all our actions—those we have done and those yet undone—be peaceful. May both past and future, and all things in between, be sources of peace for us. May the goddess of speech, established in the heart of Brahman and from whom even the terrible was born, now bring us peace. May the supreme mind, rooted in Brahman and capable of both creation and destruction, bring us peace. The five senses, with the mind as the sixth, all established in our hearts by Brahman, by which the terrible was created—may these very instruments now grant us peace. Let the gods shower us with peace: may Mitra, Varuna, Vishnu, Prajapati, Indra, Brihaspati, and Aryaman all bestow their tranquility upon us. May Mitra, Varuna, Vivasvat, and Amantaka bring us peace; may the omens of earth and sky, and the planets that wander the heavens, be peaceful for us. May the earth, even when she trembles, bring us peace; may meteors and all that falls from the sky bring us peace; may the red-milked cows be peaceful; may the earth and all her crossings be gentle to us. May stars struck by meteors, all spells and sorceries, buried pegs, and meteors that afflict the regions bring us peace. May the lunar planets and the sun, even together with Rahu, bring us peace; may Death, with his smoky banner, bring us peace; may the fierce Rudras bring us peace. May the Rudras, Vasus, Adityas, and Fires grant us tranquility; may the great seers and all the gods, especially Brihaspati, bring us peace. May Brahman, Prajapati, Dhatr, the worlds, the Vedas, the seven seers, and the sacred fires ensure the success of our rite for well-being. May Indra, Brahman, and all the gods grant us protection—may every god shield us. Whatever forms of peace exist in the world, known to the seven seers, may all of these be ours. May peace and freedom from fear be ours. Peace to earth, sky, and heavens; peace to waters, plants, and trees; may all the gods, every single one, bestow peace upon us—peace in all its forms. Whatever here is terrible, cruel, or evil—may it be pacified, may it become auspicious, may all be peace for us. May Indra and Agni be gracious to us with their help; may Indra and Varuna, who delight in our offerings, bring us peace. May Indra and Soma grant us prosperity; may Indra and Pusan bring us strength. May Bhaga bring us peace, may our praise and Puraṃdhi bring us peace, may riches bring us peace; may the praise of truth and good discipline bring us peace; may Aryaman, of many births, bring us peace. May Dhatr, the Sustainer, and the wide one, Svadha, be gracious to us. May the great heavens and earth, the mountains, and the favor of the gods bring us peace. May Agni, radiant and present, bring us peace; may Mitra, Varuna, and the Ashvins bring us peace; may the good deeds of the good be with us; may the wind blow peace toward us. May Heaven and Earth, invoked since ancient times, bring us peace; may the sky be auspicious for our eyes; may the plants and forests be kind to us; may the victorious lord of the region bring us peace. May Indra, with the Vasus, and Varuna, with the Adityas, be favorable; may Rudra, with the Rudras and the waters, bring us peace; may Tvashtr, with the goddesses, hear us here. May Soma, as Brahman, be gracious; may the pressing stones, the sacrifices, and the friends of the gods bring us peace; may the altar itself be a source of peace. May the Sun, with his wide vision, rise for our peace; may the four directions, the steadfast mountains, the rivers, and all waters bring us peace. May Aditi, with her vows, bring us peace; may the Maruts, shining with light, bring us peace; may Vishnu and Pusan bring us peace; may the purifier and Vayu bring us peace. May the god Savitr, the protector, bring us peace; may the dawns, shining forth, bring us peace; may Parjanya bring peace to our offspring; may the lord of the field, the beneficent one, bring us peace. May the lords of truth bring us peace; may swift horses and cows be peaceful for us. May the skillful Ribhus bring us peace; may our ancestors favor our offerings. May all the gods and deities bring us peace; may Sarasvati, together with wisdom, be with us. May the healers and bestowers of gifts bring us peace; may the divine, earthly, and watery beings be gentle to us. May the god Aja Ekapad be peaceful for us; may Ahirbudhnya and the ocean bring us peace. May the offspring of the waters be favorable; may Prishni, the divine protector, bring us peace. May the Adityas, Rudras, and Vasus accept this newly performed prayer. May the divine and earthly beings, those born of cows and those worthy of sacrifice, listen to us. May those who are priests of the gods, the immortal knowers of truth, the worshipful ones of Manu, grant us wide-ranging glory today. May you always protect us with blessings. Let it be so, O Mitra and Varuna, let it be so, O Agni; may this blessing be ours. May we attain depth and a firm foundation; homage to the great heaven, the seat of all dwelling. Dawn, best of sisters, turns our path toward brightness and is well-born. By her favor, may we obtain wealth bestowed by the gods, may we rejoice, strong with a hundred powers and blessed with good sons. Indra’s arms, mighty and splendid, like powerful bulls, are ready to carry us across. Let them be harnessed at the first call to action, for by them enemies were conquered and the heavenly world attained. Swift and fierce as a bull, terrifying and thundering, shaking the peoples, tumultuous and unblinking, a solitary hero—Indra, with a hundred armies, conquers. With tumult, unblinking might, victory, and bold force, Indra conquers. Stand together in battle, O men, with the mighty one who holds the arrow in his hand. With those who hold arrows, bear quivers, and are obedient, Indra leads the host in battle. The winner of contests, drinker of Soma, strong-armed, with a fierce bow, he stands with those who resist. Wise in strength, steadfast, supremely heroic, powerful, victorious, enduring, and fierce—O Indra, stand on our chariot, rich in cattle, as the victorious one, the subduer of enemies. Rejoice together in this hero, this fierce Indra, O friends; join together with him. Victor in the village, victor in cattle, with arms like thunderbolts, triumphant in the race, crushing with his might. Assaulting the enclosures with force, seizing them, Indra the hundred-wrathful advances. Unyielding, destroyer of hosts, unconquered in battle—may our army be protected by him in the fight.
