You are the stride of Vishnu, the mighty force that conquers all opposition, established firmly in the realm of agriculture, glowing with the power of food. As I move forward in the path of agriculture, I invoke this stride: let us separate from our adversaries, those whom we hate and who hate us. May their life and breath depart from them, for the power of agriculture and food stands with us. Again, you are the stride of Vishnu, destroyer of rivals, now established in the very breath of life, infused with human strength. I walk along the path of breath, and from this vital force we separate those who are hostile to us. May their life and breath be taken away. Victory is ours; we have broken through and overcome all battles and enmities. This power I bind upon the descendant of that lineage, upon the son of that line—his radiance, strength, breath, and very life I bind and lay low, wrapping him in defeat. I follow the turning of the sun, the path of righteousness. May she, the radiant one, grant me wealth and the brilliance of Brahman. I follow the shining directions; may these luminous quarters grant me prosperity and the brilliance of Brahman. I follow in the footsteps of the Seven Sages; may they bestow upon me wealth and the brilliance of Brahman. I follow the Brahman itself; may it grant me abundance and the brilliance of Brahman. I follow the Brahmins; may they grant me prosperity and the brilliance of Brahman. When we seek out one for retribution, we lay him down for slaughter. With the gaping jaws of the supreme Brahman, we crush him. With the sharp fangs of Vaiśvānara, the weapon is fixed upon our adversary. This offering and fuel, O goddess, is potent and triumphant. You are the sacred bond of King Varuna—bind that descendant, that son, in the powers of food and breath. O Lord of Food, whatever nourishment the earth brings forth, grant that to us, O Lord of Food, O Lord of Creatures. I have approached the celestial waters and mingled with their essence. O Agni, rich in milk, I have come—do not withhold radiance from me. Unite me, Agni, with radiance, with offspring, and with long life. May the gods, Indra, and the sages grant me knowledge of these mysteries. O Agni, whatever curses or hostile words have been uttered today by adversaries, whatever arrows of thought or mind have been launched—strike the sorcerers in their hearts with that power. Drive away the sorcerers with your heat, O Agni; drive away the demons with your might. With your flame, banish the rootless spirits, the blood-drinkers, and the devourers. I hurl the thunderbolt, four-edged and knowing, to shatter the head of the enemy. May he hear all these words, and may all the gods bear witness for me. With my strength, I would cut off the head of the enemy, the rival, the malicious, the hater. Let this amulet, born from the ploughshare, serve as my armor; filled with the churn, let it come to me, bringing essence and radiance. Whatever harm the carpenter or the ploughman has done to you with his hands, may the living, pure waters cleanse you of that, O pure one. Let the golden-garlanded amulet, bearing faith, sacrifice, and greatness, dwell in our house as a revered guest. To this mighty amulet, we offer ghee, soma, honeyed food, and sustenance. May it, like a father to his sons, heal us more and more, day after day. May the amulet return to the gods. The amulet which Bṛhaspati bound for Yama—the ploughshare dripping with ghee, strong, made of khadira wood—for strength, Agni, unbind it for him. May he draw forth clarified butter again and again, day after day; with this, strike down the hater. The amulet which Bṛhaspati bound for Yama—for strength, Indra, unbind it for him, for power and heroism. May he draw forth strength again and again, day after day; with this, strike down the hater. The amulet which Bṛhaspati bound for Yama—for strength, Soma, unbind it for him, for great hearing and sight. May he draw forth radiance again and again, day after day; with this, strike down the hater. The amulet which Bṛhaspati bound for Yama—for strength, Sūrya, unbind it for him. With it, he conquered the directions. May he draw forth prosperity again and again, day after day; with this, strike down the hater. The amulet which Bṛhaspati bound for Yama—bearing that, the Moon conquered the demons and the Dānavas with golden amulets. May he draw forth wealth again and again, day after day; with this, strike down the hater. The amulet which Bṛhaspati bound for Yama, for the wind, for the horse—may he draw forth vigor again and again, day after day; with this, strike down the hater. The amulet which Bṛhaspati bound for Yama, for the wind, for the horse—with this amulet, may the Aśvins protect this ploughing. With the two physicians, may he draw forth greatness again and again, day after day; with this, strike down the hater. The amulet which Bṛhaspati bound for Yama, for the wind, for the horse—bearing that, Savitṛ conquered this light. May he draw forth good speech again and again, day after day; with this, strike down the hater. The jewel which Brihaspati bound for Vata, for Ashava—the waters bear that jewel, ever flowing and unceasing. From them, he drew forth immortality; with this, strike down your enemies tomorrow and every day. The jewel which Brihaspati bound for Vata, for Ashava—King Varuna released that auspicious jewel. From it, he drew forth truth; with this, strike down your enemies tomorrow and every day. The jewel which Brihaspati bound for Vata, for Ashava—the gods bore that jewel and conquered all worlds in battle. From it, they drew forth victory; with this, strike down your enemies tomorrow and every day. The jewel which Brihaspati bound for Vata, for Ashava—the deities released that auspicious jewel. From it, they drew forth all; with this, strike down your enemies tomorrow and every day. The seasons bound it, the seasonal lords bound it. The year, having bound it, protects all beings. The intermediate regions bound it, the directions bound it. The jewel created by Prajapati is my destroyer of enemies and brings me prosperity. The Atharvans bound it, the Atharvans bound it. With this, the Angirases shattered the fortresses of the Dasyus; with this, strike down your enemies. The Creator released it and arranged all beings. With this, strike down your enemies. The jewel which Brihaspati bound for the gods as protection from the Asuras, that magical jewel has come to me with strength and splendor. The jewel which Brihaspati bound for the gods as protection from the Asuras, that magical jewel has come to me together with cows, goats, food, and progeny. Thus, the power of the gods, of sacred amulets, of food, breath, and sacrifice, is invoked to separate the righteous from the unrighteous, to bestow radiance, wealth, and victory, and to protect and prosper those who walk in the path of truth.
