Listen, then, to the wondrous tapestry of the universe, as revealed in the sacred verses. The divine form is described in all its glory. Indrani becomes the ash, Vayu is the tail, and Pavamana forms the calves. The very hips are Brahman and Kshatra, while strength itself shapes the thighs. Dhata and Savita, those radiant deities, are the shanks, and the Gandharvas, Apsaras, Kushthikas, and Aditi together make up the hooves. Within this cosmic being, consciousness is the heart, intellect is the liver, and vow is the chest. Hunger fills the belly, Irā winds through the intestines, and the mountains stand as the ribs. Anger dwells in the kidneys, wrath in the testicles, and offspring is the very organ of creation. The rivers course as veins, the lords of rain reside in the breasts, and thunder is the udder. The all-pervading principle is the skin, plants cover the form as hairs, and the stars themselves are the visible shape. The rectum is the seat of divine beings, humans fill the intestines, and the stomach is present here. Rakshasas flow as the blood, while other creatures are the fat. The clouds are the marrow, and drink marks the end. Agni is seated, while the Ashvins have risen. Indra stands watchful in the east, Dakshina in the south, and Yama presides. In the west stands Pratyanga, in the north, Dhata, and Savita as well. Soma, the king, has reached the sacred grasses. Mitra, ever observing, turns with delight. Vaishvadeva is yoked and harnessed, Prajapati is released, and all is encompassed. This, truly, is the universal form—the form of all, the very form of the cow. All-formed, of every shape, the cattle themselves approach and stand by him who knows thus. Now, let us turn to the healing of the body, for the same cosmic order is reflected within. Every pain of the head—head-ache, head-disease, ear-pain, and bloodiness—these are driven out from you. From your ears and their openings, the splitting pain is expelled. Whatever causes wasting, whether from the ear or mouth, all the diseases of your head are driven out. Any excessive discharge, any cause of blindness, all these afflictions are cast away. Pain and fever in the limbs, pain that splits and burns—every disease of your head is driven out. Ague, terrifying in appearance, that shakes a person—every kind is expelled. Should wasting creep along your thighs and enter the groin, it too is driven from your inner parts. Whether arising from desire or its absence, from the heart, all weakness of heart and limb is banished. Jaundice from the limbs, from the waters, from deep within the belly—all wasting is cast out from your very self. Let all weakness and disease become urine, let them flow out, for the poison of all wasting is declared gone from you. Cough and belly pain, too, are sent out through the outer opening. From your belly, spleen, navel, and above the heart, the poison of all wasting is declared gone. Those that injure the suture or the crown of the head, let them flow out harmless and disease-free. Those that attack the heart, that extend themselves, the coughs—let them too flow out, harmless. All that attack the sides, that pierce the back or the flanks, let them flow out, harmless and disease-free. Those that creep in the rectum and disturb the intestines, let them also flow out, causing no harm. May the mortars which grind and break apart, which themselves are free from disease, drive out the illness from its hiding place. All diseases that afflict the limbs and cause distress are declared removed, O Ropaṇā. Ulcers, abscesses, wind-caused disorders, and even hair diseases—let the poison of all these be removed from you. From your feet, knees, hips, and all the joints, from all burning and harmful pains, may the disease of the head and pain of the limbs be utterly destroyed. Thus, the universal form is revealed in all its majesty and compassion, and the healing power of the divine is invoked to restore wholeness to body and world alike.
